Bon Jovi Guitarist Breaks Arm, Keeps Shredding
Bon Jovi’s Have a Nice Day World Tour is about to kick off -- April 8 in Japan -- even though one of the band’s principal players is finding nice days hard to come by. Lead guitarist and co-songwriter Richie Sambora, recently knocked back into bachelordom by now-ex-wife Heather Locklear, had a nasty fall last week in his L.A. home and broke his arm, resulting in a treatment at a local hospital. But can a broken arm keep a 46-year-old divorced guitar god from rocking Japan? No way, man. Sambora, in a sling, will be on stage as promised on April 8, and looks to be fully recovered by the time the band globetrots to Europe in May. The tour will finish with a sold-out bang at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 11.
Sambora is also seeking joint custody of eight-year-old daughter Ava Elizabeth, and has reportedly requested the enforcement of the prenuptial agreement he signed with Locklear prior to taking the vows in 1997.
In other, happier Bon Jovi news -- all of it pertaining to singer Jon Bon Jovi -- the occasional actor appeared on last week’s episode of The West Wing and is nominated for a CMT award -- yes, that’s Country Music Television -- for his collaboration on “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” with Jennifer Nettles. Mr. Bon Jovi is also the subject of a 20/20 profile on March 31st.
