Apparently Hank Williams III isn't the only hellraiser in his famous family. Hank III's father, Hank Williams Jr., surrendered to police in Memphis, Tennessee yesterday (April 4th) on charges that he assaulted a waitress last month.
According to the charge, the 56-year-old country music star was at the bar of the Peabody Hotel in Memphis on March 18th when he attempted to kiss 19-year-old waitress Holly Hornbeak. Apparently, when Ms. Hornbeak refused Hank's advances, he began cursing at her and lifted her off her feet in a chokehold.
Although Williams has vigorously denied the charges, the man who had a hit in the late '70s with "I Fought the Law" has been nothing but cooperative with the authorities. He reportedly cut short a hunting trip so he could turn himself into Shelby County Sheriff's deputies. He was released without bond and ordered to appear in court today (April 5th).
Ms. Hornbeak, who allegedly demanded an "outlandish sum of money" before filing criminal charges, according to Williams' publicist, has been unavailable for comment.
