Garth Brooks' Ex-Wife Safe After Being Kidnapped

Good help is hard to find, but it’s rare to find help as bad as Quintine Cornelius Harper, a twenty-something (his precise age seems to be in dispute) who worked on the farm of Sandy Brooks, ex-wife of country music legend Garth Brooks. When Sandy Brooks allowed a bail bondsman to come onto her property outside Tulsa, Oklahoma, to arrest Harper on an outstanding warrant, the worker responded by drawing a weapon on his boss, escorting her to a car, and telling her to drive away.

After a few miles of cooperating, Brooks apparently decided that enough was enough, and pulled over at a convenience store and fled inside, unharmed. The industrious Harper then took off running across a field but, inevitably, was caught and arrested on kidnapping and weapons charges. He, too, was unharmed after the misadventure. Harper had previously been wanted by authorities in connection with an embezzlement case. While working on the Brooks farm, he had been living in an apartment on the property -- however, it's unknown whether Brooks actually was acquainted with Harper.

Garth and Sandy Brooks were married for 15 years prior to their 2000 divorce, and Garth admitted to Oprah that he asked for Sandy’s blessing before popping the question to current wife Trisha Yearwood. Garth and Sandy remain neighbors and have three children together -- none of whom were on hand to witness the kidnapping.
