Newly single star bares heart and shows scars on new album.
Nick to Jessica: I Still Love You
Nick Lachey’s website says that his new album “is the new side of Nick and goes deep into his heart and soul.” In other words: Let’s talk about Jessica -- and here’s a song called “I Can’t Hate You Anymore.” But even though he acknowledges that the ex-Newlyweds are in a “nasty situation,” Nick says that he doesn’t mean any harm -- in fact, he still loves Jessica, and never wanted to get divorced in the first place.“It’s not in any way vindictive or an assault on her,” he told MTV. “In a lot of ways, it’s more of an assault on me.”
Despite a widely alleged fondness for strippers, Lachey doesn’t want to stay single for long, saying that his “biggest fear is being alone” and that he’s afraid of being the “jerk uncle bachelor the rest of my life.”
Simpson courteously helped generate some more pre-album release buzz for Lachey by wearing his wedding ring again, albeit around her neck, where it seems to have been demoted to “memory ring” status (“You can move on and still have the memories,” a Simpson insider was reported saying).
Divorce, like drug addiction, ain’t fun to battle through, but can result in classic music -- Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks, for instance. Will Nick Lachey’s Divorce Album belong to that pantheon? Find out on May 9th, when What’s Left of Me will be in stores and ready to hang its head on your shoulder.
