Lacuna Coil Made Us a Mixtape!

Italy isn't known as a hotbed of hard rock, but don't tell that to Lacuna Coil. Fronted by alluring vocalist Cristina Scabbia, this six-piece from the boot of Europe is set to kick major ass this summer with a mainstage slot on the Ozzfest tour and a widely acclaimed new album, Karmacode. Rolling Stone joined a chorus of publications praising them for their "timely yet timeless music," hailing them as "an artist to watch."

We wanted to know what inspires Lacuna Coil's unique sound, so we asked the band for a list of their favorite songs. They put their heads together and came up with this eclectic little mixtape:

1. "Down in a Hole" - Alice in Chains
One of the deepest rock songs ever and the band everybody in Lacuna Coil loves.

2. "Black No. 1" - Type O Negative
Sarcastic and dark at the same time, our family from Brooklyn simply kicks ass.

3. "Girls on Film" - Duran Duran
Eighties and poppy, the perfect soundtrack of a drunk tour bus night.

4. "Enjoy the Silence" - Depeche Mode
Great songwriters. One of the gems of their career, that's why we covered this song.

5. "Sad But True" - Metallica
These are our roots and their career has been an example for us.

6. "Message in a Bottle" - The Police
Because power and intensity don't belong to metal music only...

7. "Future Breed Machine" - Meshuggah
Heaviness at its best.

8. "A.D.I.D.A.S." - Korn
Could we ever think about anything else?

9. "Got the Time" - Anthrax
The Godfathers of open-minded metal.

10. "Riders on the Storm" - The Doors
A classic - perfect for a chill-out night on the bus.
