Star-crossed high school sweethearts speed along toward Divorce #2.
Eminem's Ex Seeks Money, Joint Custody
Eminem has started plenty of trends during his time as a celebrity, but he may have a hard time getting this one to catch on: Marry your high school sweetie, divorce her, very publicly fantasize about killing her, remarry her, redivorce her -- then fight over money and custody all over again. The infamous Kim Mathers has been going back and forth with Eminem in divorce court, and has now made it known that she wants Slim Shady to foot a few bills; namely, attorney fees and the mortgage, insurance and utility payments at their home in Michigan. Kim also wants to share custody of the couple's daughter, Hailie. Em and Kim already locked horns in a custody battle after their first divorce in October 2001, so this will be familiar territory.
Their previous separation followed alleged suicide attempts from Kim, and a series of famously violent songs from Slim Shady. Those songs, particularly one notorious little ditty simply called "Kim," prompted Mrs. Shady to sue her erstwhile hubby for $10 million, claiming that she had suffered severe emotional distress from the entirety of America's youth singing along about chopping her up and putting her in a trunk.
This time, the legal documents don't state a reason for the second split -- which came after just 82 days of wedded-again bliss. Kim told a Detroit radio station that Eminem had a drug problem that he couldn't beat, but Eminem dismissed those claims as "untrue and unfortunate." The rapper had previously undergone treatment for an addiction to sleeping pills.
