Keith and Nicole Prepare for Aussie Wedding
Grammy winner Keith Urban and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman arrived in Australia at the beginning of the week, issuing a joint statement saying that they had "come home to celebrate our wedding with our family and friends."Although they weren't handing out invitations to the media, it is rumored that the big event will take place on July 25 at a Catholic church in the suburbs of Sydney, near where Kidman went to high school. Prior to that, Kidman is expected to enjoy a "hen's night" (bachelorette party) at a ritzy local spa, while the details of Urban's "buck's night" are unknown.
And while they won't be saving seats at the church for the paparazzi, the week has been an unlikely lovefest between the two sides. Tuesday (June 20), the paparazzi sent flowers to the bride-to-be and serenaded her with the "Happy Birthday" song (she turned 39) through her security gate intercom. Later, the paparazzi waiting outside Kidman's home were given a case of beer with a note saying, "Enjoy! Nicole and Keith."
Actual guests at the wedding will include a Who's Who of Aussie celebs: Baz Luhrmann, Russell Crowe, Rupert Murdoch, Hugh Jackman, and close Kidman galpal Naomi Watts.
The Australian government shares some credit, as they inadvertently played matchmaker in January 2005 by hosting an awards dinner honoring Urban and Kidman; it was the first meeting for the lovebirds.
A spokeswoman denounced the recent tabloid rumors that Kidman is already pregnant, saying, "Believe me on this one. She is religious, and that would never do."
