Edison Force pushed off the big screens by terrible reviews.

Timberlake's Film Debut: Coming to a Video Store Near You

Justin Timberlake's debut as a movie star is headed straight to video. Edison Force (previously titled Edison) had all the makings of a splashy film on the silver screen: corrupt cops, prostitution, a crime-fighting journalist (Timberlake), and plenty of star power (Kevin Spacey, Morgan Freeman). After several delays in production, and then a barrage of negative reviews, Edison Force was pulled from the theatrical release schedule and sent straight to stores. The DVD is available now.

Variety said that the film suffers from a "parade of clichés," while film critic Scott Foundas said that the villains were so hapless that a "reporter from Seventeen magazine could pin them to the mat."

Presumably undaunted, JT has a number of films still scheduled to hit the megaplex, including Alpha Dog and Black Snake Moan. He'll voice a character in Shrek 3 and his new album FutureSex/LoveSounds -- he's a pop star, remember -- will be released on September 12. So the kid should be alright.

He also had some frank words about drug use in a recent interview with the Observer, sounding proud of his partying past. "I get plastered," he admitted. "I've done my fair share of drugs and I've been caught with my pants down. I just make sure there are no cameras around." But he was quick to note: "I believe you don't do anything to excess....I try to live my life in a well-rounded manner." He also waxed a bit philosophical on issues surrounding the legality of certain substances. "Some drugs haven't been legalized because it will ruin the other drugs, like nicotine and tobacco," JT explained. "Nicotine is more addictive than heroin."
