K-Fed Ready for Prime Time Close-up

Set your TiVos, kids: Kevin Federline will make his televised performance debut at the 2006 Teen Choice Awards, scheduled to air on August 20, hosted by Jessica Simpson and Dane Cook.

And K-Fed wants to make one thing clear: he won't be singing "PopoZao," the song that spread like unfortunate wildfire over the Internet a few months ago. Instead, he'll be performing the true first single from his Playing with Fire album, "Lose Control," and he's not taking the event lightly. "I want to prove myself as an artist, as a rapper and as a human being in society who goes through everything everybody else goes through," he said, adding that Teen Choice Awards viewers will be "shocked" by his performance, which is set to close the night.

Playing with Fire has had its release date jostled on numerous occasions, most recently being delayed so Federline could add a duet with pregnant wife Britney Spears; a duet that an "insider" promisingly described as, "he will be rapping over her singing."

So what's up with K-Fed distancing himself from "PopoZao?" "At first, when I put out 'PopoZao,' people were kinda laughing at me," he explained. "I did it on purpose so people would look at me exactly the way they did. That way, when I come out with my real sh*t, people are f*cking blown away."

That's right: if you think Kevin Federline's musical career is a joke, it's because Kevin Federline wants you to think his musical career is a joke. You've played right into his hands.
