Pete Wentz and the gang get immortalized in a different kind of vinyl.
Fall Out Dolls: Coming to a Hot Topic Near You
Last week, Fall Out Boy bassist/lyricist Pete Wentz revealed the bad news to MTV News: there will be no new Fall Out Boy album this year. "We've been ready to record for about the last three weeks," the emo sex symbol said, but explained that they haven't been able to get into the studio yet because "there have been some changes at our label, a little bit of strangeness there. Half the phone numbers I have for people at the label don't have people on the other end of them anymore."But fear not, gentle FOB fans. You probably won't get a new album by year's end, but you will get a new single and, best of all, you'll get the latest in tweener-friendly punk/emo merchandise -- a set of Fall Out Boy action figures, manufactured by SOTA Toys and coming soon to Hot Topic stores everywhere.
The figures, which SOTA debuted last weekend at the Comic-Con convention in San Diego, feature all four members of Fall Out Boy sporting outfits based on their wardrobe for the Black Clouds and Underdogs Tour. Each of the figures -- or "dolls" as Wentz likes to call them -- has a pivoting head and shoulders, and will retail for $12 apiece.
"I remember playing with G.I. Joes back in the day, when my ultimate dream ever was to get the aircraft carrier," Wentz told MTV News. "[So] to be approached to be made into one is absolutely amazing."
Before you cry "sellout," know that Fall Out Boy plan to donate some of the money they make from sale of the dolls to charity. Okay, fine, you can cry "sellout" anyway, but hey -- My Chemical Romance has action figures, too, and theirs aren't anywhere near as cool-looking. SOTA is, after all, the same company that does those highly detailed Street Fighter and Alien figures. And Insane Clown Posse, but we won't talk about that.
