Pussycat Dolls Too Hot for Malaysia

Malaysian authorities slap sexy girl group with $2,714 fine for "gross indecency."
Pussycat Dolls Too Hot for Malaysia
If it's wrong to be sexy, then the Pussycat Dolls don't want to be right. Unfortunately for them, it is wrong -- illegal, even -- to be sexually suggestive on stage in Malaysia, so the group's tour organizers were hit with a $2,714 fine after the Dolls titillated an audience in Kuala Lumpur, the Southeast Asian nation's capital."I believe the way the Pussycat Dolls behaved on stage amounted to gross indecency," said Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Rais Yatim. "The Pussycat Dolls reportedly put on a show which not only featured scantily-dressed performers but also included sensuous elements."
And, yes, Rais said "reportedly," because he wasn't in attendance (sure you weren't, Rais). In fact, no officers from the governing Subang Jaya Municipal Council were on hand, either. So how are they so sure?
"In terms of their eye-popping attire, well, there's a lot of proof of that from our sources and the media," said council president Mohamed Arif Abdul Rahman.
An anonymous spokesman for Absolute Entertainment, the organizers of the concert, told the press that company representatives were meeting with council members in the hopes that the fine could be settled out of court.
This wasn't the first time that an American recording act brought too much sex appeal to Malaysia. Mariah Carey had been warned in 2004 to "dress accordingly" for her performance, but the true sex trailblazers were -- who else? -- Linkin Park, who received a stern warning about wearing shorts on stage in 2003.
