Dave Grohl Plans "Big Night" With Escaped Miners

Foo Fighters chief Dave Grohl is planning to make good on a promise to sit down for a beer with two Australian miners who listened to his band while spending two weeks trapped underground. Brant Webb and Todd Russell were left waiting for rescuers to dig an escape tunnel after their mine collapsed. Rescuers were able to clear enough space to hand the men some items to keep them entertained, including music players. Webb made a special request that Foo Fighters be added to his playlist.

When Grohl heard about this, he sent a message of solidarity to the miners: "Though I'm halfway around the world right now, my heart is with you both, and I want you to know that when you come home, there's two tickets to any Foos show, anywhere, and two cold beers waiting for you. Deal? Looking forward to sharing them with you." But after the announcement of two acoustic Foo Fighters gigs in Sydney this October, Grohl began to reconsider his beer offer.

"You know what? I'm not just having one beer with those dudes -- we're going for it," Grohl said. "This is going to be a big night." He even has kept the invitation extended to Russell, despite the revelation that he's more of a country music guy.

"I'm sure they will be very keen to meet him," replied the duo's manager, Sean Anderson. And, yes, the miners have a manager; since their escape, they have become celebrities in Australia.
