Mushroomhead are one of the most unique and adventurous alternative metal bands working today. Known for their stunningly theatrical live show and artsy masks, this innovative band has forged new ground in the rock world and influenced many other bands to push the envelope and bring art into rock. Formed in the mid-1990s in Cleveland, Ohio, the band’s combination of metal, rock and atmospheric elements has struck a chord with thousands of fans worldwide.

Mushroomhead's music and style is always pushing forward, but they know their roots, too. We asked the band members to pick their ten all-time essential albums and got a list that any self-respecting hard rock fan should print out and take to the nearest record store immediately -- assuming you don't already own every one of these classics.

       Iron Maiden

"We were talking about this yesterday night. Really an essential metal album and in a lot of ways the perfect Maiden record."
       Jane's Addiction
    Nothing's Shocking

"The best of Perry and company, said it all and so well and so differently... the layers and textures and the shock to the senses."

"Single handedly killed hair metal and let's be honest, it needed to die!"
    Psalm 69

"Brutality and beauty and re-dirtying the brainwashed in just the right way."
       Nine Inch Nails
    The Downward Spiral

"Never has doom sounded so good...what else is there to say?"
       Pink Floyd

"Bringing the slaughterhouse to your house and planting the seeds of change."
       Led Zeppelin
    Led Zeppelin IV

"What really has to be said?"
       Black Sabbath

"Pick one, they were all essential." [Ed.: Okay, we picked Paranoid.]
    Kill 'Em All

"I don't even know what to call what they do now, but this was a masterpiece."
    Cowboys From Hell
    Vulgar Display of Power

"This is a tie either way that redefined a style forever."
