Fan says Jagger's laryngitis should cost her $51 million.
Rolling Stones Sued for Canceling Show
When The Rolling Stones canceled their show in Atlantic City due to Mick Jagger's lingering case of laryngitis, Rosalie Druyan decided to fight back. With the help of her attorney husband, Martin Druyan, she filed a $51 million class action lawsuit against the Stones, saying that the band should have made the announcement sooner, instead of waiting until just four hours before show time. According to Druyan's suit, the band's representatives knew of Jagger's condition, but delayed the cancellation without cause."People came from all over to see the Stones," Ms. Druyan said. "When you talk about travel expenses, hotel and baby-sitting expenses, that's not a cheap day." She added that she was unable to have her $300 room at the Trump Taj Mahal refunded.
"Talk about no satisfaction!" said Mr. Druyan. Yeah, talk about it! The Stones offered refunds to their fans -- or replacement tickets for the make-up date -- but that just wasn't as satisfactory as a $51 million judgment.
The Stones should hope that there aren't similarly litigious fans in Hawaii, where the first Stones show since 1998 has also been crossed off the schedule. Shows in Vancouver, Oakland, and Los Angeles have been rescheduled. The band bravely made good, however, on their commitment to former President Bill Clinton's birthday party, where they played on Sunday alongside Buddy Guy, Jack White and Christina Aguilera.
