    Diddy... James Diddy

Hip-hop mogul dreams of portraying 007.

    Diddy... James Diddy

Diddy joined the latest James Bond, Casino Royale's Daniel Craig -- and a fleet of other stars -- in Copenhagen for the MTV Europe Music Awards, and the rapper admits that he would like to follow Craig elsewhere.

"One day the time will come for a black Bond and hopefully I can audition for it," Diddy said later. "It's a dream of mine to play a great role like that."

The casting choice may seem unlikely, but Diddy has a couple factors working in his favor. First, Craig has broken through the glass ceiling for blonde actors, laying the groundwork for future actors to enrage Bond "purists." Second, Diddy is no stranger to drama, having played an inmate on Death Row -- to surprisingly favorable reviews -- in 2002's Monster Ball.

In the meantime, he's lending his support to the new Bond. "I love the Bond they have now," he said. "He's a great actor and I think they made a great choice."

Diddy's new album, Press Play, sold 170,000 copies during its first week, good enough for the top spot on the Billboard charts despite being the slowest opening week of his solo career.
