Death Row founder hits back after Snoop accuses him of being soft.

    Suge Calls Snoop a "Rat"

Death Row Records founder and occasional prison inmate Marion "Suge" Knight says he knows how Snoop Dogg has avoided spending time behind bars despite seemingly continual run-ins with the law: Snoop's a snitch.

"Snoop is a rat," Knight told the New York Post. "He's a police informer. This is the only guy who never goes to jail no matter what. I don't like rats."

The remarks weren't unprovoked, as Knight was responding to charges Snoop had made in a recent Rolling Stone article, in which he said that his onetime boss was no longer feared in the industry. According to Snoop, the pair had a confrontation at the BET Awards, and the hulking Knight had backed down -- proof positive, says the rapper, that the mogul has gone soft.

"That was the scenario when ni**as knew the balance had shifted," Snoop said. "That's when everybody felt like the floodgates was open on Suge. Snoop dissed him in public, and he didn't do nothing."

Suge acknowledged the BET confrontation, but brushed off the meaning of his retreat. "I don't have to go around and convince people I'm tough," he said. "Snoop has never been in a real fight. When there's trouble, he runs to the police. He throws up and starts crying."

At the very least, Snoop has some theatrical experience with informing, having played Huggy Bear in 2004's Starsky and Hutch. But he's had multiple run-ins with the real police this year, and is currently scheduled to appear in court on December 12 (gun and drug charges), January 11 (gun and drug charges, take two), and January 24 (carrying a baton in his airline luggage). --The ARTISTdirect Staff
