The Baby is Yours!

Things get ugly between ex-lovers as Murphy steps out with his new gal.
Scary Spice to Eddie Murphy: The Baby is Yours!
That Eddie Murphy is a mercurial fellow. Not only did he hit the road after less than a year of dating Melanie Brown -- who is still better known as Scary Spice of Spice Girls fame -- but Brown didn't even find out that things had gone sour until Murphy told a Dutch TV crew that the couple had separated -- and that he wasn't sure that the baby Brown is carrying is his."You're being presumptuous," Murphy told the interviewer, "because we're not together anymore, and we don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test."
Brown was flabbergasted. "I was astonished what Eddie said," she replied in a statement. "There is absolutely no question that Eddie is the father. I have no idea why anybody would want to conduct themselves in this kind of manner about such a personal matter in such a public way."
While Murphy waits for the results of his paternity test, he's already stepping out on the town with someone new, hitting the red carpet for the Dreamgirls premiere alongside Tracey Edmonds (former Mrs. Babyface).
"We're having fun," Edmonds told People, adding that she had been dating Murphy for about a month and half -- more news for Brown, one imagines.
Murphy has five children with his former wife, Nicole Mitchell, to whom he was married from 1993-2005. Brown has one daughter from a previous marriage to Dutch backup dancer Jimmy Gulzar.
In addition to earning Oscar buzz for his performance in Dreamgirls, Murphy also made headlines recently when it was announced that he would be reprising his Axel Foley role in the fourth installment of Beverly Hills Cop.
