Courtney Love's Probation Ended, Charges Dismissed
Courtney Love left Los Angeles Superior Court crying tears of joy on Monday, celebrating a decision by Judge Rand Rubin to put an early end to her probation term for two drug-related and one assault-related misdemeanors."Thank you for not taking me into custody," Love told Judge Rubin. "Thank you for giving me an opportunity. You've been a good, fair judge. Sorry for crying."
The praise went both ways, with Rubin noting that he was impressed by Love's commitment to her rehab program. "Early on in this case, Ms. Love, I think you came very close to coming into custody," he told her. "I think you've done very well. You've shown to me you are interested in a much less destructive lifestyle."
Love was sentenced to a half-year in rehab in September 2005, after being found under the influence and possessing painkillers -- violating her probation for earlier drug charges. In February of that year, she pled no contest to charges that she attacked Kristin King -- by dousing her with Johnnie Walker and then throwing a lit candle at her -- after discovering the musician sleeping on the couch of Love's ex-boyfriend. Love's probation period for the assault charges was not set to expire until 2008.
"I'm so happy and excited," Love told Us Weekly. "I just want to put all this stuff behind me. It's so last year."
