Britney to Fans: "I Get It"
2007 is barely a week old, and Britney Spears has already been beset by stories of passing out on New Year's Eve and entering rehab. She's fallen out of favor with a lot of fans -- and she gets it. "Trust me," she wrote in a "Dear Fans" letter on her official website last week, "I get it."To make it up to her fans, Spears is planning a new album and a full tour. "I would like to exclusively tell you that I am working hard to release the new album sometime later this year, but the date is of course not certain yet," she wrote. "I look forward to coming back this year bigger and better than ever, and to also reaching out to my fans on a more personal level."
Her fans have been left without new material while Britney has focused on wifedom, motherhood, and, more recently, pantyless nighttime jaunts with Paris Hilton. These straws eventually broke the camel's back at World of Britney, which will be closing down at the end of January after a lengthy reign as one of the most definitive Spears fansites. Webmaster Ruben Garay said that "Britney is unfortunately done (for me at least)."
"I know I've been far from perfect and the media has had a lot of fun exaggerating my every move," Spears wrote, "but I want you all to know that I love my fans so much."
In the meantime, she's managed to work custody out with her estranged hubby -- at least for January. Kevin Federline, a.k.a. "FedEx," will be popping in on his sons Sean and Jayden every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon from noon to 4:00. Britney also promised to put forth her "best efforts" in ensuring that no, ahem, "third party" is at the house when Papa comes over.
