Elusive singer is staying in the U.S. again -- and plotting a comeback.

    Jacko is Backo!

Bahrain's most famous resident, Michael Jackson, has returned to America, staying at an undisclosed location while planning a comeback that will first see him meet-and-greet with rich fans in Japan (up to $3,300 for a 30-second chat with an autographed photo). In the meantime, he'll be doing what Michael Jackson does worst: laying low.

"I can confirm that he is in the United States," Jacko spokeswoman Raymone K. Bain said. "We don't give out information regarding our client's whereabouts because of safety, and this is just an ongoing policy."

Jackson was one of the eulogists at James Brown's funeral on December 30th, and also allowed himself to be filmed while hitting the studio with will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas in November of last year. He is still planning a comeback album, even after parting ways with his Bahrain-based record label and failing to assemble a much-discussed benefit single for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Jacko held a conference call with The Associated Press to detail his plans to visit Japan in March. In addition to the pricey meet-and-greet, he is also planning another day of fan appreciation of some sort. "My friends and fans in Japan have been so supportive of me and my family for many, many years," he said, reading from a prepared statement. "My fans in Japan helped me achieve historic milestones in the music industry."

After he finished his statement, Jackson even allowed a member of the media to ask one -- but only one -- question. That penetrating question: How are you?

"I'm fine, thank you," Jackson replied.
