And it seems that the former Vice President has better taste in music than Bush.

Al Gore Announces Worldwide Concert Event

Al Gore has shown more life in the past year than when he was running for President, which, in retrospect, is pretty unfortunate. First there was the Grammy-nominated documentary An Inconvenient Truth, and now the ex-Vice President is organizing a Gore-apalooza of sorts. On July 7 (07/07/07) Gore is teaming up with the organizers of Live 8 for an ambitious 24-hour concert scheduled to coincide on all seven continents, all to focus on the climate change crisis.

"We'll start in Shanghai, and go to Sydney and Rio De Janeiro and Washington D.C. and London and Johannesburg and finish the show in Kyoto at the old Buddhist temple where we would do an acoustic show and ask the world to take a breath," says Kevin Hall, one of the organizers. Hall estimates that two billion people will watch the event which has been dubbed Save Our Selves—The Campaign for a Climate in Crisis (or S.O.S. for short).

The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Snoop Dogg, John Mayer, Fall Out Boy, and Faith Hill are just some of the more than 100 artists scheduled to appear.
