LCD Soundsystem to Tour

To promote their upcoming inevitable dance-punk classic Sound of Silver, James Murphy's LCD Soundsystem will begin touring this coming spring. The tour begins with two intimate nights at New York's Bowery Ballroom, but then upgrades to larger venues after a Coachella appearance.

Today also marks the release of a digital-only EP for "North American Scum," the first single off of Sound of Silver, with two exclusive remix tracks. A few weeks back, Murphy also publicly made a plea to his fans to send his sophomore release to the #1 slot on the Billboard charts. "Here's the deal," Murphy posted on his band's forum. "Dreamgirls was the #1 record in the US with Billboard scan of 60,064 sold this week. LCD record 1 (the old record) sold a total of 60,559 in the US since it was released.

"Meaning, straight up," Murphy continued, "if everyone who bought the first record bought [Sounds of Silver] the week it's released, then we're totally #1." We truly wish him luck with this. After all, we wouldn't mind a world where LCD Soundsystem goes #1.
