Over the weekend, Bjork revealed more details regarding her forthcoming release, Volta. The record will feature an eclectic cast of cameos, including Timbaland, Brian Chippendale of experimental noise band Lightning Bolt, and a Chinese pipa player. The record will be available on May 7th via her own label, One Little Indian, a subsidiary of Atlantic Records.

Bjork also sat down with Pitchfork to discuss Volta for the first time since its completion. The "rhythmic" album was inspired by the human race, Bjork explained. "I mean, the human race, we are a tribe, let's face it, and let's stop all this religious bull****. I think everybody, or at least a lot of my friends, are just so exhausted with this whole self-importance of religious people. Just drop it. We're all fucking animals, so let's just make some universal tribal beat. We're pagan. Let's just march."
