The Flaming Lips on Broadway?
The Flaming Lips are known for heavy theatrics, but this takes it to a whole new meaning. Singer Wayne Coyne confirmed to Rolling Stone today that the psych-pop band is currently in talks with Broadway producer Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys and The Who's Tommy) about producing a stage musical based on the wonderful Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots album from 2002."We're putting together a Broadway version of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots," Coyne said. "As much as I love the more intense experience of being at a rock show, this could be great!"
Our only advice to Coyne is to leave Twyla Tharp out of this. Her Bob Dylan musical, The Times They Are A-Changin', was a massive flop.
