Damon Albarn Pens an Opera
Damon Albarn of Blur, Gorillaz, and the Good, the Bad and the Queen just completed the score to an opera entitled Monkey: Journey To The West, which will premiere June 28th at the Manchester International Festival in England. The opera promises to feature 40 Chinese circus acrobats and both traditional Chinese and western instruments. Monkey, which is based on ancient Chinese legend, will also boast set design and animation by Albarn's Gorillaz partner, designer/illustrator Jamie Hewlett.—The ARTISTdirect Staff
