New York's quintessential garage rock band rolls with label drama and losing a guitarist
Mooney Suzuki Survives, Releases New Album
After surviving a break-up with Columbia Records, the implosion of their second label, V2 Records, and the departure of their original guitarist, the Mooney Suzuki have finally found a new home on Elixia Records, an imprint of the newly formed Templar Label Group. The New York garage band was originally unsure of its future, but as the new record Have Mercy confirms, the group knows how to roll with the industry punches."It's amazing to me that this is still an upbeat record," said singer Sammy James, Jr. "When I was writing these songs, I wasn't thinking, 'Man, I gotta make a peppy record.' I was not in a good place. I wrote these songs out of necessity: We were in debt, we didn't have a band, and it seemed like this potential career that had for so many years been dangling just out of reach was finally gone for good."
The Mooney Suzuki's fourth album will finally see a release this coming June. See the tracklisting below.
