Iconic post-punk pioneers Television, who helped put legendary NYC venue CBGB on the map in the mid-'70s, will be reuniting again this summer for a show in their beloved city's Central Park, as part of the annual Summerstage series. The concert is set for June 16th, with the Apples in Stereo scheduled to open. Oh, and tickets are free!
Other artists set to rock Central Park this summer include Joss Stone, Common, the Decemberists, and Neko Case. A full slate of performers and schedules is expected to be released next week.
Television initially disbanded in 1978, then reformed in 1993 to release an album of new material. They have played shows sporadically in the years since, including an appearance at 2001's Noise Pop Festival in Chicago and a gig at last year's North by Northeast conference in Canada.
