The Libertines Reunite For One Night
Fri, 13 Apr 2007 09:17:25
It started off as a Pete Doherty live performance at the Hackney Empire in London, but midway through the set, Doherty announced that Carl Barat, his former bandmate in the Libertines, would join him onstage. A euphoric crowd rubbed their eyes in disbelief, but there it was: Doherty and Barat, together again after months and months of tumultuous and very public drama. We wonder, is there hope for America and Iraq now?
The U.K.'s weekly music publication NME devoted a blog to the momentous occasion with several photos of the formerly estranged bandmates playing and downing cups of lager together. As reported by NME, the duo strapped on guitars and went thorough 13 Libertines songs without the assistance of a backing band. And there was nary an illegal narcotic in sight. The times, they are a'changin'.
