One of the oddest headlines we'll probably write this year
U2's Bono and the Edge Working on Spider-Man Musical
It seems that the biggest band in the world has been inspired by a radioactive spider. U2's Bono and the Edge are teaming up with Tony Award-winning director Julie Taymor to work on a new musical based on Spider-Man. There are few details available right now, but producers are currently casting the roles of Peter Parker/ Spider-Man, his girlfriend Mary Jane, Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson, a chorus of three teenaged boys who narrate the story, and—our favorite part—a new character called Arachne, "a beautiful, boastful young woman turned into a spider for her hubris and lack of respect for the gods."Rehearsals will begin as soon as July 2nd in New York City with readings to occur on July 12th and 13th.
