New York's new new-wave chairmen disclose their favorite tunes

    Playlist: The Bravery

The Bravery had their introduction into the rock 'n roll limelight in 2005, when they released their self-titled debut to eager, electro-pop loving ears. In the two years since their initial brush with fame, they have toured the world, had international hits (namely their break-out single "An Honest Mistake"), become self-proclaimed "better musicians" and are now poised to give the world their second album, The Sun and the Moon.

As the release date of their sophomore release looms near (The Sun and the Moon is due May 22 on Island), ARTISTdirect caught up with the boys to find out what songs got them dancing and got them thinking on how to breech the notorious sophomore slump.

    1. The Kinks – "Till the End of the Day" [clip]
Great rock song and we usually use it to get inspired before a show.

    2. The Beatles - "All My Loving" [clip]
Greatest melody sing-along song ever written. We always whip out the acoustic and harmonize to it.

    3. Guns N' Roses - "Night Rain" [clip]
This song really gets the blood flowing. It's also incredible for guitar playing.

    4. Louis Armstrong - "Black and Blue" [clip]
Very melancholy vibe—you always know that I'm in a bad mood when I'm listening to this.

    5. Nas - "Halftime" [clip]
One of the best, most raw hip hop beats ever.

    6. T.I. - "What You Know"
Sweet synthesizer in this song. Plus he says "dude" a lot— I love when rappers say dude.

    7. Tribe Called Quest - "Scenario" [clip]
That was hip hop at it's earliest. This song got me into hip hop.

    8. Esquivel - "Mini Skirt" [clip]
The first guy to really get into stereo sounds—and that is awesome!

    9. My Bloody Valentine - "Glider" [clip]
Wall sound guitars and washed out vocals—can't ask for any better than that!

    10. Oasis - "Acquiesce" [clip]
Just one of the greatest rock ‘n roll riffs ever.

    11. Air - Moon Safari (anything from this album)
A creative and orchestrated use of synthesizers and electronics; an almost a classical use of electronica.

    12. Le Tigre - "Deceptacon" (DFA remix) [clip]
It's like a Reeses Peanutbutter Cup—two great things that go even greater together.

    13. Britney Spears - "Toxic" [clip]
Is one of the best produced dance tracks I've ever heard. Sounds like the Tom Tom Club doing something crazy—totally freaks me out.

The Bravery's The Sun and the Moon is available in the ARTISTdirect store.
