    Smashing Pumpkins Album Art Stolen

    Wed, 09 May 2007 13:11:20

Because of Corgan's rage, there are still two thieves in a cage

Two fans broke into the Smashing Pumpkins studio last week and stole the artwork for the reunited band's forthcoming release Zeitgeist, their first album in seven years. The alleged cover art was then leaked on the Internet and after an investigation, the burglars are being held in Chicago police custody. The band is in fact pressing charges.

Management for the group issued a press release stating, "Management for The Smashing Pumpkins confirms that the band's rehearsal studio in Chicago was burglarized last week.

"The two people who are now in jail illegally gained access to the band's private space and stole various items belonging to them over the course of several hours while the band had left for the evening.

"The band's management says the group feels their rights have been violated by this crime and will always pursue their rights and the law to protect their property and the safety of themselves, their families and their fans."

The Wikipedia entry for Zeitgeist describes the album artwork as including photos of Paris Hilton, the Grim Reaper, a devil, and children saluting head Pumpkin Billy Corgan. For Corgan's sake, we can only hope that the fans got around to destroying these photos.
