Bright Eyes already made tongues wag with the announcement of not one, not two, not three—but seven shows at New York City's Town Hall this week, which is a venue that holds 2,324 attendees. Adding to the gaping astonishment of indie rock fans, Bright Eyes added a special guest to the bill when the band kicked off their residency on May 25.

According to NME.com, Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed hit the stage and performed with Conor Oberst and company. The rock legend lent his efforts to two tracks, "I'm Waiting for the Man" and "Dirty Boulevard" (one Velvet Underground tune, one Lou Reed solo track, respectively).

This marks one of the rumored collaborations Conor Oberst has set to pursue, including a seemingly unlikely partnership with ex-Fugees singer Lauryn Hill.
