The Real Return of the Rentals
Matt Sharp, the former bassist of Weezer, is marking his return with a new Rentals record by the end of this year. The synth-pop side project—which ultimately became Sharp's primary musical outlet—released two acclaimed albums, 1995's Return of the Rentals and 1999's Seven More Minutes, but had quietly disbanded until now. The band is currently recording, rehearsing and performing in Los Angeles throughout the summer, with a July residency (7, 14, 21, 28) occurring every Saturday night at Spaceland.—The ARTISTdirect Staff
