Cat Power Wins Shortlist Music Prize
The Shortlist Music Prize has announced that this year's winner of the coveted award is New York's Cat Power and her 2006 release The Greatest. The musician, whose real name is Chan Marshall, recorded the album in Memphis, Tennessee and released it to widespread critical acclaim.To win the Shortlist Prize, Cat Power beat out such worthy releases as Hot Chip's The Warning, Joanna Newsom's Ys, and Regina Spektor's Begin To Hope.
