Ahoy, mateys—Treasure Island now has its own festival
Modest Mouse, Thievery Corporation Sign on for New San Francisco Music Festival
Add yet another music festival to your bulging summer calendar. The brand-new Treasure Island Music Festival announced its lineup this week, and despite the name, there are no singing pirates on the bill. Instead, Thievery Corporation and DJ Shadow headline an electronica-heavy lineup on Saturday, September 15, while Modest Mouse and Spoon top the bill on the more indie rock-oriented Sunday, September 16 schedule. The festival takes place on its namesake island in San Francisco Bay, and is being co-presented by the people behind the Bay Area's Noise Pop Festival and Another Planet Entertainment. Tickets are currently on sale on the festival's official website.
