The New Yorker magazine has revealed the first wave of artists that will be performing at this year's New Yorker Festival. The mix of entertainment and intellectualism is set for the weekend of October 5—and opens with Friday night's New Yorker dance party, hosted by the mag's esteemed pop music critic Frere-Jones and renowned producer/DJ Diplo.
The second day boasts performances by Sigur Ros, who will play an acoustic set and hold the premiere of their film Heima, David Byrne, who will offer his multimedia experience entitled "How New Yorkers Ride Bikes," and a mix of old and new guitar icons. Sunday is set to be a change of pace and is reserved for 20th century classical music. The final roster of acts will be announced September 10 and appear in the September 17 issue of The New Yorker. Tickets will be available September 15.
