Klaxons Take Home Mercury Prize

2007's breakout stars,
Klaxons, were bestowed with the coveted Mercury Prize today for their debut album Myths of Near Future. The "nu-rave" quartet were up against a varied clan of 12 of their British peers including New Young Pony Club, Jamie T., Bat For Lashes, The Young Knives, 2003 prize winner Dizzee Rascal as well as the classical outfit Basquiat Strigs.The prize is not only the honor of winning the award, but also a monetary compensation of £20,000. The band have not revealed what they are planning to do with the prize money.
Though she was not a nominee and she has been battling her ongoing drug abuse, Amy Winehouse made an appearance at the ceremony, singing her latest hit "Love is a Losing Game."
