R.E.M. To Premier New Song on CNN

R.E.M. will debut a new song on CNN during a documentary called Planet In Peril, hosted by Anderson Cooper. The track "Until the Day Is Done" will play during the four-hour special, which focuses on the effects that pollution is having on our planet. "We are honored to have our song included in this monumental project," R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe said. "The images in the film are beautiful, while at the same time heart-breaking and frightening."

The show airs on October 23 and 24, but the song will also appear on a new R.E.M. album, scheduled for release in 2008. This is not the first time the Atlanta band has debuted a new song on CNN. In 2002, R.E.M. gave Cooper the song "Bad Day" to play for the first time during his program Anderson Copper 360.
