Madonna To Sign With Live Nation
Musicians are realizing that there are other means of generating income besides the music industry's flailing current system. Pop mega-star Madonna is just the latest example of artists charting new, self-directed career paths. According to Billboard, Madonna is close to finishing a deal which allows her to leave her longtime label, Warner Brothers, for a $120 million deal with concert promotion conglomerate Live Nation. The inside source revealed that Live Nation will pay her in money and stocks for the rights to handle and distribute three albums, concert tour promotions and merchandise.Warner Brothers responded to the report by stating that the Material Girl, age 49, still owes a new album and a greatest hits compilation to them, and then she is free to go wherever she pleases.
