Britney Spears' Label Sues Perez Hilton
Major labels have yet to learn that free publicity is good publicity, especially when the publicity is going towards promoting the forthcoming Britney Spears release. Nevertheless, her label Zomba is suing Perez Hilton for copyright infringement, alleging that his gossip website PerezHilton.com featured illegal leaks of Spears' songs. Can they both lose? The songs are confirmed tracks from Blackout, Spears' first album in four years, which initially had a release date of November 13. However, because of the leaks, the label has pushed the U.S. release date up to October 30. Zomba is suing Hilton for real and punitive damages as well as legal costs. See what gossip gets you, kids.
