Daft Punk and Rage Against the Machine rule two nights of Halloween mayhem
Photo Recap: Vegoose
When you find yourself standing next to Rainbow Brite and a gaggle of Smurfs while screaming obscenities with Public Enemy, you begin to realize that the Vegoose music festival is a pretty unique experience. The Halloween-themed music bash hit Las Vegas's San Boyd Stadium for the third year in row this past weekend, drawing a large crowd with the promise of bizarre costumes, fake weddings and an incredible line-up of musicians, culminating in the US tour finales of both Daft Punk and Rage Against the Machine.

The party kicked off in a fitting fashion as Gogol Bordello took the stage and delivered over two hours of punk/cabaret/electronic fusion that had the crowd carelessly dancing in the mid-day heat. Not long after, indie-icons Blonde Redhead took the stage, flawlessly recreating their intricate studio recordings down to the subsonic rumble of "In Particular," which literally shook the crowd.

Flavor Flav | Chuck D | by Jay Watford
To the chagrin of hip-hop fans, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill hit their respective stages at the same time. Public Enemy's Chuck D proved as solid as ever with a locked down flow and plenty of energy, but the crowd really went wild as Flavor Flav popped and locked his way on stage during "Welcome to the Terror Dome," adding his over-the-top flare to the rest of the set.

The Shins | M.I.A. | by Jay Watford
Back in rock, The Shins put in a strong showing for best band costumes, donning white face make-up and black while playing their set, including the crowd favorite "New Slang." The group's solid performance was no match for M.I.A., though, who kicked Vegoose up to a new level with her banging beats and an open invitation that brought over a hundred eager fans on stage to dance while she kicked out her trademark global-kitchen-sink beats and rhymes.
