Hard Rock's got more than cafes up their sleeve
Dylan, Springsteen and More Contribute to Benefit CD
The charity branch of Hard Rock International has announced the November 6 release of SERVE2, a compilation featuring unreleased cuts from Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Joss Stone and many others. (O.A.R.'s live version of "Dareh Meyod" is the only previously released track.) All net proceeds from the CD will benefit WHY (World Hunger Year), a nonprofit organization that battles worldwide hunger problems."In a time of plenty, it is staggering to consider that 854 million citizens of our Earth live in poverty and go hungry," said Annie Balliro, Hard Rock International's Senior Director of Brand Philanthropy. "[We're] proud to help raise awareness and funding for the various WHY 'on the ground' organizations around the world that directly help those in need, and quite literally, save lives."
"While my dad, [singer-songwriter] Harry Chapin, was somewhat of a pioneer in melding activism and music when he founded WHY and devoted half of his concert proceeds to charity, now it is more the rule than the exception for artists to be involved," added Jen Chapin, who contributed an incendiary Stevie Wonder cover ("You Haven't Done Nothin'") to SERVE2's digital version. "I am honored to be part of this blossoming, creative, vibrant movement!"
