Celine Dion Announces Extensive Worldwide Tour
More than 700 concerts and $500 million later, Celine Dion will finally close her Las Vegas residency on December 15, taking just two months off before launching a major worldwide tour in Johannesburg, South Africa. The trekin support of the November 13 release Taking Chances, her first English album in three yearswill hit a number of key cities in Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe before landing in the U.S. on August 12 at Boston's TD Banknorth Garden. Dion's North American leg includes 45 dates and won't wrap up until January 30, 2009 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. While ticket prices haven't been released yet, they will go on sale November 16. Be sure to watch celinedion.com for more details and a complete list of tour dates.Dion's Vegas residency at the 4,100-person Colosseum in Caesar's Palace started way back in March 2003. The extravagant, $95 million venue opened solely to host the singer's shows. Bette Midler will assume Dion's residency spot on February 20, the first of 100 planned shows over the next two years.
