My Bloody Valentine Opt for Digital Self-Release

More news has sprung up from the My Bloody Valentine camp on their upcoming album, the decade-and-a-half-long awaited follow-up to 1991's seminal shoegaze gem, Loveless. In a recent Billboard.com interview, the band's manager, Vinita Joshi, has said that Kevin Shields and co. are hitting the studio this December to record the album. When it comes time to release the new album, which is rumored to be early 2008, MBV has decided to take some advice from Radiohead (not all of it) and release the album on their own, digitally. However, a universal retail price will be set. No additional details have been announced

Even though the Coachella rumor mill is still churning, MBV's manager has temporarily squashed Coachella reunion show hopes by saying, "We'll see how the summer shows go first." The dates for Coachella 2008 are April 25 - 27. Yup, that's before summer.

Here are the confirmed My Bloody Valentine reunion shows:

June 20 - London, England - The Roundhouse
June 21 - London, England - The Roundhouse
June 22 - London, England - The Roundhouse

    June 28 - Manchester, England - Apollo
