Spice up your life!
Photo Recap: Spice Girls - Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
No one is sure how it happens, when the tides change, or who decrees the fashions that are allowed to come back into style, but the company line is in: it's once again cool to like the Spice Girls. The femme fab five of the '90s have reunited, according to the spiciest spice, Geri Halliwell, as "Spice Women." But, these rockin' mums haven't lost a bit of their flavor. The band's pre-teen and teen fans who once wore pig tails, high-heeled sneakers and flashed peace signs whilst chirping "Gurl Powah!" are now hipster 20-somethings wearing American Apparel, but the loyalty (and singing along to every word) still remains, as the Spices sold out their two-night Staples Center residency.
Spice Girls reunited
This reunion tour—which is partially due to the release of their Greatest Hits album—is a final, fond farewell to the British phenomena who were the fastest selling (and arguably most popular) British act since The Beatles. So, if you missed it the first time around, this is your last chance—and it may be better the second time around. The show opens with number one hit "Spice Up Your Life" and follows through their chart history with "Say You'll be There," "2 Become 1" and polishes things off with a show-stopping encore of their 1996 mega-hit "Wannabe" (you know, Zig-ah-zig-aaah).

As a treat to die-hard fans who have followed the individual girls' careers, each Spice has her moment in the spotlight with a solo performance. Emma "Baby Spice" Bunton sings a saccharine pop number from her solo effort; Mel B dons her cat suit and microphone whip to Lenny Kravitz' "Are You Gonna Go My Way"; Mel C is a lone vision in white singing her international club hit "I Turn To You" in the web of club-ready neon lights; Posh stays true her fashionista roots and simply struts it on the "runway" to Madonna's "Like a Virgin"; but the highlight of the solo portion of the show is Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell's rendition of "It's Raining Men." The redheaded vixen prowls and vamps across the stage with an effervescent energy that proves who everyone's favorite Spice should be.
