Goldfrapp Try Unplugged Approach on New Album

    Wed, 12 Dec 2007 08:25:45

    Subdued shows to soon follow

Let's be honest: None of us knew what to expect from Goldfrapp's fourth LP when the group said its songs are "gilded in the butterfly colors of English Surrealism" a month ago. We've got a couple clues now, though, namely the following statement from frontwoman Alison Goldfrapp: "We did talk quite a lot about what kind of instruments would get that kind of warmth ... We'd never used acoustic guitars before. We wanted the sound to be delicate, but not weak."

Multi-instrumentalist Will Gregory added, "We're going to try and [tour] unplugged ... and see how it feels. We did an acoustic radio session and really enjoyed that." That may or may not involve "little chamber group sounds."

For now, here's a complete tracklisting of Seventh Tree, due out February 26 through Mute:

    1. Clowns
    2. Little Bird
    3. Happiness
    4. Road to Somewhere
    5. Eat Yourself
    6. Some People
    7. AandE
    8. Cologne Cerrone Houdini
    9. Caravan Girl
    10. Monster Love
