The People Speak, a documentary based on the popular Howard Zinn books A People's History of the United States and Voices of a People's History of the United States, will enter its initial production stages in Boston next month. John Legend and Pearl Jam frontman/longtime Zinn supporter Eddie Vedder will provide music for the miniseries, while Matt Damon, Marisa Tomei, Danny Glover, Viggo Mortensen and more have all signed on to appear and patch together photographs, archival footage and interviews.

"It's going to be a great piece of entertainment but more importantly something people can watch and learn and remember how great this country has been and how individual people have changed the course of history," executive producer Chris Moore said to Billboard.com. "It's going to make them think, laugh and cry and be proud to be American."

Zinn will also appear on camera and executive produce the project, which has no network attached to it yet.
