New album due out in March
Domino Signs The Kills
As if snagging Animal Collective and Cass McCombs wasn't attracting enough cool kids, the UK-based Domino Records have now signed The Kills. The duo's first record on the label, Midnight Boom, hits stores on March 18 in CD/LP/digital formats."We wanted to be forward-thinking, less conceptual and to dispense of all influences," drummer/guitarist/vocalist Jamie Hince explained in a statement.
One of the ways Hince and vocalist/guitarist Alison Mosshart expanded their sound was through the beat-savvy help of Spank Rock producer Alex Epton, better known as Armani XXXchange. According to Hince, "He gave us tips on how to make the rhythms more violent and gritty."
Playing off that dark and bloody theme, the Kills recorded their entire album in the late hours of the night.
Hence the title Midnight Boom and tracks like this:
1. U.R.A Fever
2. Cheap and Cheerful
3. Tape Song
4. Getting Down
5. Last Day of Magic
6. Hook and Line
7. Black Balloon
8. M.E.X.I.C.O.C.U.
9. Sour Cherry
10. Alphabet Pony
11. What New York Used
12. Goodnight Bad
