Dan Fogelberg Dies of Cancer Complications

Dan Fogelberg lost his three-year battle with prostate cancer yesterday, leaving behind a legacy of singer/songwriter hits such as "Longer," "Leader of the Band" and "Same Old Lang Syne."

According to an official statement on Fogelberg's Web site, www.danfogelberg.com, "Dan left us this morning at 6:00 a.m. He fought a brave battle with cancer and died peacefully at home in Maine with his wife Jean at his side. His strength, dignity and grace in the face of the daunting challenges of this disease were an inspiration to all who knew him."

When Fogelberg received his diagnosis of advanced prostate cancer in 2004, he thanked fans for their support in a statement, saying, "It is truly overwhelming and humbling to realize how many lives my music has touches so deeply all these years … I thank you from the depths of my heart." Full Circle, Fogelberg's final LP and first collection of original material in a decade, was released in 2003.
