    Millions checked it out

Celine Dion finished her five-year residency at Caesars Palace Saturday night, thanking fans for helping her through an initial string of bad reviews in spring of 2003. Not to mention the pregnancy that preceded it and almost caused Dion to cancel the whole residency. "At one point, it was like feeling like the Titanic was about to sink again," she said during the show. "But we believed and we went on with it. Even though the vibe was not that positive for us."

Rough start aside, "A New Day … " went on to sell nearly 3 million tickets at the 4,100-seat Colosseum arena, with a total gross of more than $400 million. One fan even went more than 100 times, according to Dion. As for Saturday's performance, eBay tickets were going for as much as $1,899. Bette Midler will take Dion's Colosseum spot for a two-year run starting on February 20. The Canadian star plans on spending time with her 7-year-old son Rene-Charles until then. That is until she starts touring behind her new album Taking Chances, starting with a Valentine's Day concert in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Speaking to reporters after her show, Dion said, "Tomorrow morning, it will be back to reality and back to [being] mommy."
